Amit Shah Chairs High-Level J&K Security Meet

New Delhi, October 9: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah, chaired a high-level meeting in New Delhi today to review the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting brought together key officials, including Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief of Army Staff, the Chief Secretary and Director General of Police of Jammu and Kashmir, the Directors General of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), and senior officers from the Government of India, the Army, and the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

Reaffirming the Centre’s determination to restore lasting peace, Amit Shah said the Modi Government remains steadfast in its “unwavering commitment to achieving the goal of a terrorism-free Jammu and Kashmir.”

He noted that years of consistent operations by security agencies had severely weakened terror networks in the region. “Due to the determined efforts of the security agencies, the terrorist network nurtured by the enemies of the nation in Jammu and Kashmir has been almost eliminated,” Shah said, adding that the government would continue to extend full support and resources to sustain these operations.

Underscoring the government’s tough stance, the Home Minister asserted that security forces would retain “full freedom to crush any attempt to threaten peace and security in the region.”

Amit Shah also appreciated the steps taken by the Union Territory administration and security forces in the aftermath of the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He said their swift and coordinated response had “helped strengthen the overall security landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.”

Calling for seamless coordination among all agencies, Shah said it was critical to maintain the current momentum against terrorism. “All security agencies must work in close coordination and maintain utmost vigilance to completely eradicate terrorism from the region,” he said.

With winter approaching, the Home Minister cautioned against possible infiltration attempts along the border. “With the onset of winter, security forces must remain fully prepared to ensure that terrorists do not exploit snowfall to infiltrate across the border,” he emphasized.

The meeting comes amid heightened security reviews following recent incidents in south Kashmir, reflecting the government’s ongoing focus on maintaining stability and ensuring that developmental and peace initiatives in Jammu and Kashmir proceed without disruption.
