Centre – Ladakh talks 95 % jobs to be reserved for Ladakhis: Dorjay

Srinagar, Dec 03 : The talks between leadership of Ladakh and the Government of India on Tuesday reached an understanding over job reservation, political reservation for women in the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils of Leh and Kargil and recognition of Bhoti and Urdu languages as official language of the Union Territory.

 

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), former minister and senior leader of Apex Body Leh, Chering Dorjay said that as per understanding reached between the two sides, 95 percent of jobs in government sector would be reserved for Ladakhis.

 

“The vacant post of medicos and engineers would be immediately referred to the Union Public Service Commission,” he said.

 

He said the Government of India has agreed to recognise Bhoti and Urdu as official languages of the UT.

 

He said there will be 33 percent reservation for in Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Councils of Leh and Kargil.

 

Each Hill has 30 members of which 26 were directly while remaining four were nominated by the government from religious minorities and womenfolk.

 

He said that next round of talks would be held on January 16 to discuss key demands like statehood and 6th schedule.
