IGP Kashmir Reviews Arrangements for NLSA, KU Meet

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Zone, V.K. Birdi (IPS), on Tuesday chaired a high-level security review meeting at Police Control Room (PCR) Kashmir ahead of two major events—the National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) programmes and the University of Kashmir Alumni Meet.

The meeting brought together top officers from various security and civil departments, including DIG Central Kashmir Range, DIG Armed Kashmir, DIGs of CRPF (North and South Ranges), Director SSF, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic Srinagar, CO AP 5th, SPs of East, South, and Hazratbal zones, alongside nodal officers from the University of Kashmir, Air Force, BSF, and CRPF.

IGP Birdi stressed the importance of maintaining heightened vigilance and robust coordination to ensure a safe environment, particularly for the NLSA events aimed at promoting legal literacy and improving access to justice. He also highlighted the significance of the KU Alumni Meet, describing it as a landmark event celebrating academic and professional excellence.

He instructed officers to intensify surveillance around key venues, enforce effective access control, and implement streamlined traffic management plans to minimize public inconvenience and ensure smooth movement during the events.

“Both the NLSA outreach and the University Alumni Meet are events of high public importance, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure they are conducted in a peaceful and secure manner,” Birdi said.
