Shopian, May 03: Meema Akhter, a member of Pamposh Self Help Group (SHG) in Children Bala Nowpora, Chitragam block of Shopian district, has successfully launched a mushroom cultivation unit with support from the Jammu & Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM).
With financial backing from Sheikh-ul-Aalam Village Organisation (VO) and technical support from Yaa Rub Cluster Level Federation (CLF), Meema began her venture with 650 mushroom bags, laying the foundation for a sustainable livelihood.
Expressing her gratitude for the institutional support, Meema said, “Thanks to the training and regular handholding provided under JKRLM, I was able to adopt scientific practices in mushroom production, ensuring quality and hygiene. This has given me financial independence and confidence to expand further.”
Her success has not only brought a steady income to her family but also encouraged other SHG members in the area to explore alternative and high-return livelihood options. Meema’s story is a reflection of JKRLM’s growing impact in empowering rural women and promoting economic self-reliance across Jammu and Kashmir.
